How Stage Invasion works

Stage Invasion is an initiative of Higher Rhythm in partnership with Doncaster Music Education Hub.

We work with schools (including academies and colleges) currently just across Doncaster, to provide opportunities for students to participate in authentic live music industry-experiences through Stage Invasion each year.  This is currently a FREE opportunity due to working with a range of funders and partners.

In a normal year, schools or the young music artists simply complete an entry form to enter Stage Invasion. We then work with the artists to develop / refine the music that they have created (which must be original, not covers) and offer the opportunity to play live on a large stage at the project finale (at the end of the summer term) which is a professionally-produced music event held at an established music venue.

On the night of the event, the audience votes for their favourite and the winner gets to record their music in the pro recording studio at Higher Rhythm.

There is obviously a limit to the number of artists we have capacity to work with each year and demand is high, so we run this opportunity each year on a first come first served basis and advise you get in touch as soon as possible if you / your school is interested in taking part. Ideally we would like to see just one group / artist from each school so we expect the school to put the relevant artists forward.

In light of COVID-19 restrictions, this year we are inviting young songwriters / music artists to submit a demo version of an ORIGINAL song. This can be composed / recorded as simply as possible, even at home and on a mobile phone is fine.

Our expert team will then work with the artists (remotely if necessary) to develop the music, before ultimately featuring and broadcasting it in a special Stage Invasion Radio Show, on our radio station Sine FM broadcasting on 102.6 FM in Doncaster and around the world on We are also inviting young people to get involved in delivering this radio show.

Sticking with our model of democratic audience voting, the act that gets the most listener votes through the show will be the winner and get to record their music in the pro-level, main studio at Higher Rhythm.
